I always book my hotel by Bookings. With them I never pay more than the hotel would charge (mostly I pay less!). Furthermore they have a really broad range of hotels in Ghent. Hotel Ibis Ghent Centrum Opera (€€)
This hotel is also very centrally situated. The hotel is located next to the Opera house. The price of the rooms is not that high and quality and service are fine. Breakfast is not included. My tip: have breakfast at the Brooderie (see 'eating & drinking').

Best Western Cour St Georges (€€€)
This hotel is considered to be the oldest hotel of Europe. Once the crossbowmen came here to get provisions and to rest their horses and probably used the hayloft to get some sleep themselves. You can chose from Tradition rooms, Privilege rooms or two junior Suites.
