Ghent is a fairly good city to go shopping, with a good variety of shops and several pedestrian shopping streets.
Regular shop hours are 10.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m.
Shops are closed on Sundays and official holidays.
Velderstraat and Volderstraat
These streets cross each another and are the main shopping streets of Ghent. The Volderstraat is a bit more fashionable than the Velderstraat.
A picture of the Volderstreet you find above.
Post Plaza There is a small shopping center in the old post office on the Korenmarkt.
There are several markets such as:
Flower market (Kouter
every day from 7.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m.) /
Flea market (Sint-Jacobs/Beverhoutplein: Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings)
Small pets and barn-door fowl (Oude Beestenmarkt, every Sunday morning) /
On the Groentenmarkt there's a market on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Because there is no traffic allowed in this street, it's nice to shop here.
