Universita Statale in Milan  

Universita Statale (Ca'Grande)
Till 1942 this building was used as a hospital. Now the University of Milan is situated here. Around the inner courtyard are eight smaller courts. The magnificent square of this university is really worth a visit.

This 'basilica' is one of the oldest of Western Christianity…it dates back from the 4 th century and was renovated many times since. The dome was built in the 16 th century. The chapel holds a tomb with the remains of St. Lorenzo.

These columns belonged to a Roman building (palace, baths or a temple) of the 2nd or 3rd century B.C. and were later situated in front of the Basilica mentioned above. They are beautiful lit at night.
