Groß St. Martin in Cologne   Groß St. Martin
This church with its quadrangular tower is situated in the old part of the city (Martinsviertel) and was built between the 12th and 13th century. Just like the Cologne Cathedral this is a landmark too.

The quarter around the church Groß St. Martin is called the Martinsviertel. It's a jumble of small and charming streets with many restaurants, cafes and bars.
Address: Salzgasse, Fischmarkt and Frankenwerf are located in this area.
     
Town hall in Cologne  

Town hall
This building dates from the year 1330. The tower was built in the 15th century and the Renaissance facade is from the 16th century. The remains of old Jewish baths can be viewed through the glass pyramid in front of the town hall.

Alter Markt in Cologne  

Alter Markt
Around this square you'll find the historical center of the city. Furthermore it's the place where festivities such as the Christmas market in December are held. A famous Brauhaus (brewery) called the Gaffelhaus (see section 'eating & drinking') is located on this square.
