  Leidse plein - Leidse square
Another very lively square in Amsterdam. Especially in the summer when the many terraces are filled with colorful umbrellas and chairs. Restaurants, bars, cinemas and theatres are located here...a nice place to go out!

Flowermarket in Amsterdam

Bloemenmarkt - Flower market
This is where you will find all sorts of flowers, plants, tulips (and other bulbs). They are sold in flower stalls which stand on houseboats floating on the Singel canal (Koningsplein and the Muntplein). A very colorful place!

The Dam in Amsterdam

The Dam - Dam square
On this square you can't miss the National Monument, erected to honor the victims of WWII and sticking out like a needle. In the sixties this was a central spot for hippies but now the pigeons took over. The square is surrounded by exclusive stores, hotels and other points of interest like the Royal Palace and Madame Tussauds.

Munt tower in Amsterdam

Munttoren - Munt tower
Once this tower was a part of the old city wall. Since then it knew many purposes; glas blowing factory, police checkpoint, inn, storage of silver and gold and later coins were made here. You will find this tower next to the flower market.
